Bug Race: On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the 32nd Annual Great American Bug Race gets under way at 3 p.m. at PBA. The bug race works like this: The owner/coach/manager either brings a bug or buys one for 50 cents. The cost to enter a bug is $1. Bugs run in heats; the owner/coach/manager must retrieve his/her bug at the end of each heat. If the bug escapes, however, another competitor may be purchased. Prizes are awarded with a grand prize for the fastest bug.  Rules are strict: only true insects may compete (no spiders); no high-tech running shoes or spikes allowed; no chemicals (random drug testing of bugs is a possibility!); bugs must run (or walk or stagger) across the finish line; no flying or hopping permitted. Bugs are not allowed to eat or otherwise attack other competitors. The event is part of PBA’s Homecoming Week festivities and raises money for the University’s Science Club. For more information, contact Becky Peeling at (561) 803-2018 or becky_peeling@pba.edu. For information about Homecoming, please visit www.pba.edu/homecoming.
