(West Palm Beach, FL – April 4, 2011) The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is proud to announce the exciting 2011-2012 Kravis On Broadway series, which includes five smash hit musicals.
“The 2011-2012 Kravis On Broadway season boasts a powerful line-up that includes the macabre new musical comedy THE ADDAMS FAMILY, which is still packing in the crowds on Broadway and the recent exuberant Tony Award-winning revival of the tribal rock musical HAIR. Add to this stellar roster the new, highly praised version of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, the Tharp-meets-Sinatra dance-filled COME FLY AWAY and the soul-stirring new 25th anniversary production of LES MISÉRABLES. All in all, the upcoming Kravis On Broadway series promises a full season of excitement and escape for our audience members,” said Lee Bell, the Kravis Center’s Senior Director of Programming.
LA CAGE AUX FOLLES
Winner of three Tony Awards® including the award for Best Musical Revival, this hilarious new production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES was the biggest hit of the 2010 Broadway season, leaving audiences in stitches night after night. With book by Harvey Fierstein and songs by Jerry Herman, LA CAGE tells the story of Georges, the owner of a glitzy nightclub in lovely Saint-Tropez, and his partner Albin, who moonlights as the glamorous chanteuse Zaza. When Georges’ son brings his fiancée’s conservative parents home to meet the flashy pair, the bonds of family are put to the test as the feather boas fly! LA CAGE is a tuneful and touching tale of one family’s struggle to stay together… stay fabulous… and above all else, stay true to themselves! With a glorious score of hummable melodies and a dynamite cast featuring the “notorious and dangerous Cagelles,” LA CAGE is an indisputable musical comedy classic.
