Wheels For Kids To Donate Customized Wheelchairs Worth $27,000 to Disabled Children During 8th Annual Lake Worth St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Annual event benefits Wheels for Kids during daylong parade
The color green abounds this time of year, but for a very special St. Patrick’s Day event, the “green” represents donations made on behalf of the Lake Worth St. Patrick’s Day Charity Parade sponsors. The benefitting charity, Wheels For Kids, will donate three fully customized wheelchairs, with a total value of $27,000, to three very deserving children in need during the daylong celebration taking place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014 on Lake Avenue.
Featuring fabulous floats from local civic and commercial businesses, the Premier Kids Train, as well as live musical and other entertainment, the St. Patrick’s Day Charity Parade heralds Rod Regan as Grand Marshall, and features Lake Worth Princess Jaime Abbott.
Founded in 2003 by Denise Jungbert in honor of her daughter, Ashlee, who has Cerebral Palsy (CP), the non-profit Wheels for Kids was originally established to provide wheelchairs to handicapped children in Palm Beach County, who were afflicted with CP. The success of the program led to the expansion of the organization’s outreach and now accepts applications from any child suffering from a long-term disability. To date, Wheels for Kids has donated many wheelchairs to those children in need.
“Experiencing the difference a customized wheelchair made in our lives with Fernando was life changing,” said Denise Jungbert, founder of Wheels for Kids. “We created Wheels for Kids to help other families with their children to give them a better, more accessible and fulfilled lives. We are incredibly excited to present these three children with brand new, customized wheelchairs and know they will make a world of difference in their lives!”
Wheels for Kids will be raising money through the Sheering Shed where you can donate money and get your head shaved as well as through parade registrations. The cost for entering the parade is $50 per individual, and organization, and $100 per merchant. There is no charge for nonprofits, religious organizations, or schools.
Sponsors of this event include: Brogues’ Down Under Pub, Dave’s Last Resort, The Shamrock Club, Riggins’ Too, Lake Worth Valet, E.R. Bradley’s Beach Club, MDH Graphics, Brown Distributing, & Bird and Exotic Hospital.
