Fashion plates like Kate Hudson, Kim Cattrall, Vanessa Williams, Fergie, Nelly Furtado, Anna Paquin and Heather Marks, to name a few, have been spotted wearing Pink Tartan everywhere it counts.
They are among the growing number of A-list celebrities who are loyal Pink Tartan customers, making the label one of North America’s most coveted lines.
Pink Tartan is the brainchild of Canadian Kimberley Newport-Mimran and her business-savvy husband and co-founder, Joseph Mimran. She started her own label in 2002, following the birth of her daughter, Jacqueline (now 9) in 2001, whom she said helped inspire the name.
“My husband’s background is menswear and we’re Canadian, so ‘tartan’ was a natural choice, “ said Mimran from her New York City office. “I was pregnant when we were planning the company, so all I could think about was pink. The name Pink Tartan just seemed to fit.”
The Mimrans are today considered Canada’s most powerful fashion couple. With Kim as the creative mind and driving force, and her husband the “business genius,” together the
couple has developed a womenswear label projected to hit $1 billion in sales by the end of 2010.
